already talked about this a bit before, but wanted a separate post i could link to without ppl having to sift through stuff, so just repeating myself a bit but:
going to be mainly posting fic to squidgeworld going forward. i'll also keep posting it here, though i'm thinking of making a separate comm just for spirit hat so it's very easy to locate.
but the reason for the move is largely due to the OTW determining that a volunteer setting their slack status to 'from the river to the sea' constituted harassment. that article outlines everything in detail and provides relevant links, but the particulars that i have been hung up on are: 1) the very clear priority of the OTW to focus on how politely you're stating your genocide denial 2) the quite frankly astonishing amount of zionists volunteering for the org and demanding things like equating calling israel a colonial project with a racist slur 3) i mean also the genocide/war crime denial that was just allowed to be spread on volunteer channels with only the pushback being considered an issue.
there's really a lot there, and the volunteer who ended up quitting over this does link to a google doc with screenshots which i do recommend going through, but overall i'm really just disgusted with how the OTW handled this entire situation, especially with how they continue to implicitly uphold and support the equation of antisemitism with criticism of zionism or the israeli government.
this is also not the first issue i've had with the otw (does anyone else recall the incredibly tone deaf response to concerns about AI scraping?), but i do think it is the most egregious.
and, as i've said before, i do understand that the otw is not making any money off of me posting my fic there, nor do i expect my moving to a different archive to have any effect on their policy/behavior, however i also just personally feel completely disgusted with the org and don't really care to use their archive. i'm also hopeful that by posting about this it will at least keep this issue from just being swept under the rug.
i'll keep posting the rest of 'all i need is some sunshine' to ao3 eventually so that people can find it, but it is not going to be a priority for me, and i'm not sure i'll post any new fic there at all going forward.
i will also be discontinuing any donations to the org and would encourage others to do the same.
in any case, squidgeworld and here at dreamwidth will be the places i'll be prioritizing fic uploads. you do not need an account to read fic at sw (it's the exact same code as ao3), but as i am locking any fic rated Explicit, you will need an account to read it here on dw (you'll have to request access to this journal first as well).
anyway, thanks for taking the time to read this!
